New Jersey to Host USA vs Ireland in June

New Jersey is to host the USA vs Ireland in June. The Eagles will have home advantage against the current no 2 European side on June 10. The match will be played at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

It is to be the second appearance of Ireland in the USA in under a year. Last November the Irish completed a first-ever victory over New Zealand in Chicago. The match was played the day after the Eagles took-on the Maori All Blacks across town at Toyota Park.

Following the Eagles match, Ireland will travel to Japan to play two test matches – on Saturday, June 17 and Saturday, June 24. No match will take place against Canada. The Canadians have incoming matches against Georgia and Romania. The USA will also host Georgia but will not do so against Romania.

Both Canada and the USA are to also have one further mid-year home international. They will square-off over two matches in Rugby World Cup qualifiers. The winner will qualify for Japan 2019 while the loser will advance to face a South American qualifier.

In previous qualifiers Canada has come out on top. This year could see history changed. Canada’s home defeat to the USA on Saturday extended the Eagles winning streak to five matches over the Canucks.
