Argentina, Brazil Dominate Day One in Córdoba

Argentina and Brazil dominated Day One in Córdoba. The two countries won all three of their respective matches, doing so in style.

Brazil opened with a 52-0 thumbing of Uruguay. It was followed by a 45-0 downing of Paraguay and a 31-0 win over Venezuela. As such not only did Brazil run in plenty of tries but the Portuguese-speaking country also conceded none.

Paraguay recovered from their loss against Brazil to run riot against Uruguay. Their 46-0 win was their second of the day. Earlier on Paraguay had opened with a 10-5 win over Venezuela.

Uruguay’s day was long and unsuccessful. The Eastern South Americans were unable to score a try all day. This included a 32-0 loss against Venezuela. Peru was also unable to win a match but performed better than that of Uruguay.

Chile finished day one with one win and two losses. The Peruvian women fought hard against both Argentina and Colombia, scoring one try against each. They were unable to score in their final outing, losing 14-0 against Chile.

2016 Olympians, Colombia continued to underline themselves as a success story. Las Tucanes overpowered Chile and Peru, doing so by playing attractive rugby. Their third match was a 17-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina. Earlier Argentina had done well against both Peru and Chile.

Played in Córdoba, Argentina the tournament is the 2017 edition of the South American Women’s 7’s. The event is being played a the Carlos Paz Rugby Club.
