Americas Weekend Guide – Guinness Pro 12 Week 15

Week 15 of the Guinness Pro 12 is underway. The Celtic-Italian League will future a full round of six matches this weekend. The round is being played during a bye weekend of the Six Nations but leading test players from all four nations are not to play.

In one of the two Friday fixtures there Scarlets host Zebre. The Llanelli-based side features DTH van der Merwe. The veteran of three Rugby World Cups for Canada starts for the Welsh region on the left wing. Uncapped Argentine Serafin Bordoli is Zebre’s starting fly half. Former Pumas Bruno Postiglioni and Guillermo Roan are replacement props. Bordoli is eligible to play for Italy and was signed by Zebre for this reason.

On Saturday Cam Dolan will be played No 8 for the USA. He will do so against Canada in the Americas Rugby Championship. Missing is Blaine Scully. The Californian will start on the left wing against Benetton Treviso. Italian capped Canadian Robert Barbieri will start at No 8 for the Italian side.

In Northern Ireland Ulster welcome the Glasgow Warriors. The USA eligible Callum Black will start for the home side at Loose Head prop. USA second-rower Greg Peterson continues to be sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Canadian Tyler Ardron will be on the bench this weekend for Ospreys vs Munster. He will play out of position, covering second-row. Starting will be former USA junior, Hanno Dirksen. The Ohio-born Sam Underhill starts in the back-row.
