Americas Weekend Guide – Guinness Pro 12 Week 14

The Guinness Pro 12 returns today. Following a break the Celtic-Italian league is back with a full round of six league matches. Players from the Western Hemisphere are to feature. Below is the Americas weekend guide for week 14 of the competition.

Ulster have home advantage tonight against Edinburgh. The Northern Irish side’s failures in the Champions Cup give the Pro 12 extra importance. Involved from the bench for Ulster will be Callum Black. He remains eligible to play for the USA. In fact he could have played for the Eagles in Rugby World Cups 2011 and 2015.

Promoted as the match of the round the Glasgow Warriors will play at home against the Scarlets. The fixture will see the Warriors fielding an altogether unfamiliar side due to Scotland’s test team being heavily based on Glasgow players. Starting for the Scarlets will be DTH van der Merwe. The Canadian has been named on the left wing.

In Parma, Italy players from Argentina, Canada and the USA will all feature. Zebre hosts the Ospreys, doing so with three Argentine players starting. Former Pumas Guillermo Roan and Bruno Postiglioni are to be the props. Uncapped Serafin Bordoli will play fly half. Bordoli is eligible to play for Italy. Back from injury is Tyler Ardron. The Canadian will play flanker for the Ospreys. Ohio’s Sam Underhill starts on the other flank. Former USA junior, Hanno Dirksen will play from the bench.

The remaining league matches will be played on Sunday. The Cardiff Blues and Treviso are to have home advantage against Connacht and Leinster. Lineups for both matches are yet to be named.
