Argentine fly half Sebastián Poet has signed for Colombiers, reports Rugby Rama. The transfer sees the 24-year old moving from Charente to Pro D2 rivals and will see him playing his rugby in the French rugby heartland.
Poet joined Charente (Soyaux-Angoulême) this season, doing so from Tarbes. His former club was relegated to the third division. He has taken the opportunity at Charente well to be a stand-out performer in France’s second division this season.
This season Poet has made 10 appearances for Charente, for a return of 100 points. His form caught the attention of Colomiers which ends the possibility of a return to Argentina.
Poet is an outside option for international duty. He earned three caps for his country in 2013, facing Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. He was also used by the Argentina XV but was out of the top three fly half options of Daniel Hourcade.
Colomiers sit in fourth position of the Pro D2 at present. With 49 competition points the club is well positioned to make the play-off’s. Should it remain in 4th position or rise then the changes of promotion to the Top 14 are entirely plausible.
