Glasgow Warriors Set to Terminate Haupeakui’s Contract

The Glasgow Warriors are set to Terminate Langilangi Haupeakui’s Contract. The Californian No 8 has reportedly failed to return to Scotland from the USA this month.

Haupeakui joined the Glasgow Warriors from PRO Rugby. He was a standout performer for Sacramento in the inaugural season. It attracted not only interest from Scotland but also John Mitchell. The USA Eagles coach handed Haupeakui his test debut in June. He also played both of the USA’s test matches in November.

His promising career is currently stalled. He returned to the USA several weeks ago only to fail to return on time. He is still not back in Glasgow and is now expected not to return. His most recent match was a Guinness Pro 12 fixture against Munster on December 2.

With him missing club training the Glasgow Warriors reportedly have no option but to cancel his contract. In total the Eagles No 8 made four appearances for Glasgow since his arrival.

Should Haupeakui be remaining in the USA he would be in serious consideration for international duty. The USA have five upcoming matches in the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship.
