Toulouse Set to Sign Facundo Isa

Toulouse are set to sign Facundo Isa, L’equipe has reported. The French media outlet says that Toulouse are to confirm the arrival of Isa in the coming hours. The 25-time capped Puma is said to be signing a two-year contract.

Aged 23 Isa is regarded as one of the best No 8’s in the world today. He was the leading ball-carrier in the 2016 Rugby Championship with 85 runs. In addition he was the leading forward in terms of both defenders beaten and meters gained.

He was named Argentine player of the year for 2016, winning the Olimpia de Plata award. His yet to be confirmed departure from Argentina would be a hammer blow to Los Pumas. Players based outside of Super Rugby are not eligible for international duty.

Isa is currently training with Los Jaguares for his second Super Rugby campaign. He joins Leonardo Senatore, Benjamin Macome and Santiago Portillo as the options for the No 8 position.

Looking to return to the top of French and European rugby, Toulouse is currently recruiting heavily. Confirmed arrivals are Antoine Dupont, Charlie Faumuina, Zack Holmes, Chelsea Kolbe, Louis-Benoît Madaule and Louis Pointud.
