Chile Qualify for Las Vegas, Vancouver and Hong Kong 7’s

Chile have qualified for the Las Vegas, Vancouver and Hong Kong 7’s. Los Cóndores defeated the USA Falcons 26-10 at the Quarter Finals stage in Viña del Mar to advance to the Semi Finals.

Chile has been continuing on their good form from Punta del Este. In last weekend’s international competition in Uruguay Los Cóndores 7’s finished third. Now the Chileans have the opportunity to reach the final and to do so in front of their home supporters.

Los Condores 7’s raced out to a big 19-0 Halftime lead in their Quarter Final. The USA Falcons fought back only after Chile had scored the opening try of the second half. It was not enough for the North Americans to cancel out which saw Chile eliminating the Falcons.

In earlier Quarter Finals Argentina and the Canada Maple Leafs were both victorious. Argentina came out 19-7 winners over Colombia to reach the Semi Finals. In downing Uruguay 24-5 the Canadians responded well to their poor showing at the Punta del Este 7’s. They also ensured that Uruguay could not catch Chile unless Los Cóndores were to lose to the USA Falcons.

In the final Quarter Final fixture Fiji ran riot, hammering Brazil 54-0. It sees Fiji setting up a Semi Final against the Canada Maple Leafs. Chile will meet Argentina in the other.

The four losing sides from the Quarter Finals will contest the Plate Semi Finals. Brazil will play Uruguay in one match with Colombia facing the USA Falcons in the other.
