Ohio-Born Flanker Set to Join Bath

Ohio-Born Flanker Sam Underhill is set to Join Bath. His moving from the Ospreys will see him go from playing in the Guinness Pro 12 to the Aviva Premiership.

The well-regarded back-rower is has been mentioned by England Head Coach Eddie Jones as ideally suited to playing for England. The 20-year-old is eligible for not only his country of birth but also for England, Scotland and Wales.

Bath is reportedly to pay the Ospreys a transfer fee of £150,000 as Underhill still has one year left on his contract. The transfer will free-up Underhill to be selected for England for the upcoming Six Nations. It would match the selection of Ben Te’o for England’s June 2016 tour to Australia. He played the 2015-2016 season for Leinster but having signed for Worcester was selected by Jones.

Underhill was born in Dayton, Ohio to English parents. He is a former England u18 captain and also played u20’s for England. He played age-grade rugby for Gloucester before joining the Ospreys.
