Pumas Fullback to join Scarlets?

Is a Pumas fullback on his way to join Scarlets? The veteran of 52 caps, Lucas González Amorosino has been linked to a possible move to continue his career in Wales.

The 31-year-old was the most notable name missing from the Jaguares roster announced for the 2017 Super Rugby season. Among the 44 players named were five players who are specialists in the same positions as González Amorosino.

The outside back from the Pucara club was also not a regular for either Los Jaguares or Los Pumas in 2016. His three test match appearances were against France, South Africa and Australia. Of these his one start was in Perth against the Wallabies. González Amorosino missed Argentina’s November tour due to the birth of his child.

Joaquín Tuculet, Santiago Cordero and Manuel Montero enter 2017 as the leading back-three options for Argentina. Both Emiliano Boffelli and Ramiro Moyano are to also play Super Rugby and are considered viable for Japan 2019. The versatile Matías Moroni will continue to cover wing as required.

The Scarlets are currently in search of new players. The Welsh region has confirmed the loss of Canadian DTH van der Merwe to the Aviva Premiership. Liam Williams is also leaving to play for Saracens. González Amorosino plays in the same positions as these players.

A move to Llanelli would see González Amorosino playing for a second time in Wales. He played for the Cardiff Blues in the 2014-2015 season and scored a try on debut. It would also be a third time playing in the Guinness Pro 12. He played for Munster last season. Prior to the Guinness Pro 12 the Puma played for Leicester in England and both Montpellier and Oyonnax in France.
