Brazil Name 7’s Roster for Punta and Viña

Brazil has named a 12-man roster for upcoming competitions in Punta del Este and Viña del Mar. The Brazilians will play in the biggest Sevens events of 2017 in Uruguay and Chile respectively in January.

The Punta del Este 7’s will be played from January 7-8 and the Viña del Mar 7’s from January 14-15. They are to be a part of the South American Sevens circuit. Competing will be countries from across South America. Both Canada and the USA have again been invited to field developing sides.

The top two sides of Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay will qualify for the 2017 Hong Kong 7’s. The best of these four will also qualify for the USA and Canada legs of the World Sevens Circuit in Las Vegas and Vancouver.

The selection for Puna del Este and Vinã del Mar underlines that Brazil is looking to the future. New names is the norm with São Paulo clubs heavily contributing players. Niteroi’s Mateus Estrela is the exception.
