Video: Urdapilleta and Agulla Down Montpellier in Champions Cup

Argentina players Benjamín Urdapilleta and Horacio Agulla downed Montpellier in Sunday’s Champions Cup match. Combined the former Pumas accounted for 21 points. Castres won the match 29-23.

Urdapilleta scored 16 points, all coming from his goal kicking. Agulla scored five, crossing for Castres’ first try. It came in the 35th minute and would give the home side the lead.

Trailing 10-9 Agulla’s try put Castres into a strong position with half time drawing close. The score came from an inch-perfect cross-kick from Urdapilleta. Agulla chased, leaped, gathered and grounded the try for a superb try.

Urdapilleta and Agulla almost combined for a second try in the second half. Play from the 64th minute kick ended with center Afusipa Taumoepeau tackled less than a meter short. Montpellier killed the ball which saw the team down to six forwards.  Alexandre Bias made them pay the price from the resulting lineout to regain Castres the lead and, ultimately, win the match.

The result sees Castres occupy third position in the group with 9 points. Montpellier is in second spot with 11. Leading the pool with 16 is Leinster. Montpellier play away to Leinster in the next round while Castres will host the Irish province in the final round. Both rounds 5 and 6 will be played in January.
