Patricio Albacete has been informed that his contract with Toulouse will not be renewed. The former Pumas vice-captain is one of a number of aged Toulouse players that is at the club for a final season.
Albacete is yet to play this season. Having having suffered a cruciate ligament injury to his knee last season he is expected to be back to fitness shortly.
Aged 35, Albacete joined Toulouse from Pau in 2006. He has played for the club ever since, winning both the Top 14 in 2008, 2011 and 2012 in addition to the European Champions Cup in 2010.
The second-rower played three Rugby World Cups for Argentina, making a total of 57 appearances for his country. He was dropped by Daniel Hourcade in 2014 after an off-field incident saw infighting within the team. Albacete called Hourcade a liar to which Hourcade ended Albacete’s career immediately.
