The US Eagles will be playing their two home matches of the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship in the great state of Texas. USA Rugby has now officially confirmed that the February 4 match against Uruguay will indeed take place at Toyota Field in San Antonio. The second home fixture is a week later on February 11 which sees Brazil welcomed at Round Rock’s Dell Diamond. Both Uruguay and famously Brazil defeated the Eagles in their own countries during the 2016 ARC, and now the USA have a golden opportunity to exact their revenge on home soil.
Toyota Field is a relatively new venue completed in 2013 that features a hybrid grass and turf surface with a maximum capacity of 8,296. It is used primarily for soccer with United Soccer League (professional Division III) franchise San Antonio FC its main tenants. This will be the first time the Eagles have played in San Antonio.
Located on the outskirts of Austin, Dell Diamond hosted the USA’s 30-22 win over Canada on February 13 of last year as well as the Junior All-American upset victory over Canada u20. It’s an unusual venue given that it is primarily designed for baseball, but can be configured to host both rugby and soccer with a capacity of 11,631.
Ticket information for both games can be found on the official USA Rugby site.
