Argentina 2017 Rugby Calendar

The Unión Argentina de Rugby (UAR) has announced the 2017 rugby calendar. The list includes all activities for Los Jaguares and representative sides including both the Argentina XV and Los Pumas.

Los Pumas 7’s will be the first team involved in international competition. They will play in the New Zealand Sevens competition in January. It will be immediately followed by the Australian leg of the World Rugby competition. The final leg will be in June.

The Argentina XV will play matches in February, March, May, June and October. Argentina’s ‘A’ side will play no fewer than 12 fixtures. This will include the Americas Rugby Championship, with three of the five matches being home fixtures this year.

Los Pumas are to also make twelve appearances. These are to be divided into three windows – June, Rugby Championship and November. The match quantity will be three, six and three in that order. England and Georgia will play in Argentina in June. The November Internationals tour will not see an additional match comparable to that of this year’s game against Japan.

Los Pumitas will compete in the World Rugby Junior World Championship in May and June. They are to play friendly internationals as warm-up games. Opposition and dates for these matches is yet to be confirmed.

Los Jaguares will open their second Super Rugby season on February 25. The season will run from February to May and then have additional matches in July.

Argentina’s domestic rugby competitions will get underway in March. There will be a variety of competitions played throughout the republic, the last of which will finish in December.
