Americas Players in Champions Cup – Round 3

The European Champions Cup is back in full swing this weekend for Round 3 as we hit the midpoint of the pool stages. Americas players from four countries will feature prominently for seven different clubs.

Saturday’s schedule sees Zebre hosting Toulouse in Italy with two Argentine props on the roster. Bruno Postiglioni starts for the second consecutive match, with Guillermo Roan tabbed as his backup with looseheads in short supply. Two more former Pumas are in the Racing 92 lineup. Manuel Carizza is at lock and Juan Imhoff on the left wing for the battle against Glasgow Warriors at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir.

Saracens will field half of their Americas assets against Sale. Chris Wyles runs out at no11 with Marcelo Bosch wearing no13. On the other side of the pitch another Eagles World Cup star will run the show for Sharks in the form of flyhalf AJ MacGinty.

Sunday has two matches of interest for Americas fans. South America will tune into the game at Altrad Stadium where Montpellier host Uruguay’s Rodrigo Capó Ortega and his Castres side. Argentine goal kicker Benjamín Urdapilleta is left among the reserves.

The second match is one for North American fans. Samu Manoa gets another run in the no8 jersey for Toulon. Making the trip to the iconic Stade Félix Mayol all the way from West Wales are Scarlets, who will throw everything and DTH van der Merwe at the fearsome home side in a game that will make or break the chances of reaching the playoffs for either.
