Hourcade set to hold talks with Tomás de la Vega

Daniel Hourcade is set to hold talks with Tomás de la Vega. The Argentine Head Coach will meet with de la Vega, the player has confirmed.

The 26-year-old recently won player of the year in the Campeonato Argentino. de la Vega captained Buenos Aires to the national provincial title last weekend. Yesterday he told A Pleno Rugby in a video interview “I have a pending chat scheduled with el Huevo (Hourcade). I need to clarify some things”.

The Buenos Aires and CUBA captain previously turned down a professional offer to remain amateur. But now his ambitions are directed to the national team. “I had a thorn with Los Pumas that is something that you always aspire to when you start playing this sport”.

In 2014 de la Vega made the personal decision to estrange himself from the PladAR program. “I was going through a bad personal time”. This saw him miss out on Rugby World Cup 2015 with Hourcade instead rushing through Javier Ortega Desio, Facundo Isa and Tomás Lezana in 2014.

de la Vega told A Pleno Rugby that ” I would like to clarify some things. Not related to rugby but human questions”.

The most recent of de la Vega’s 12 caps was against Scotland in June 2014. Still aged just 26 de la Vega has a strong opportunity to be included in Los Jaguares’ plans for the 2017 Super Rugby campaign. The nature of the meeting with Hourcade combined with the player’s standing and attitude place make him hot property for Los Pumas in 2017.
