Brazil Fall to Germany in Freezing Leipzig

Brazil Fell to Germany in Freezing Leipzig this afternoon. The Central Europeans completed a comprehensive win, outscoring the Brazilians by five tries to one. The 36-14 scoreline was notably more impressive than that of game one.

Germany started the match in full control. Basic work from a lineout saw Jaco Otto scoring in consecutive test matches. The flanker’s try gave Germany a 7-0 lead in the 8th minute.

Moisés Duque responded to open Brazil’s account. The São José utility back kicked his first of two penalties to cut the lead to four. Germany swiftly cancelled it out with Harris Aounallah slotting a penalty in response.

Guilherme Coghetto failed with an attempted drop goal before Germany went over for try number two. South African Sebastian Ferreira broke through would-be tacklers to give Germany a 17-3 lead. Further impressive ball-carrying saw Otto cross shortly thereafter.

Brazil was reduced to 14 men with Gabriel Paganini yellow carded. Yet without him the South Americans were able to score their one and only try of the match. Back-rower Cléber Dias would score Brazil’s first try of the tour.

Further disciplinary problems plagued Brazil. Germany’s solid scrum turned it into points. No 8 Timo Vollenkemper went over the Germany’s fourth score. It gave the home side a 28-8 half time lead.

Duque cut the deficit with three points. Germany soaked in the pressure to hit-back through Clemens von Grumbkow. The left winger made it a 36-11 lead before Duque added three more in the final scoring act of the match.

For Germany the result completes a 3-0 home series triumph this month. Brazil are 0-2 with one match left to play. Os Tupis now travel to Coimbra to face Portugal on Thursday December 01.
