Video: Tonga vs USA 2016

The USA Eagles have played their final match for the year. Their international commitments ended on Saturday against Tonga in Spain. The Tier 2 battle brought together two relatively evenly matches sides. On paper either side could win. On historical terms this Tonga was favorites as the USA regularly seem to play well but fail to complete the job.

Tonga’s tendency to start well and the USA’s to finish well repeated themselves. Tonga had an extremely impressive opening quarter. Had they kept it up it is likely that the match would have been well and truly over at the interval. Instead the Eagles fought back well to give themselves a shot at winning the match.

The next test match for the Eagles will be in February. The USA will have home advantage against Uruguay in round one of the Americas Rugby Championship.
