Sánchez Cited for Foul Play

Argentine fly half Nicolás Sánchez has been cited by World Rugby for alleged foul play. Making his 50th appearance for his country there Tucumán fly half is alleged to have struck an opponent in the 78th minute.

The heated match between Scotland and Argentina involved a number of incidents. Scottish captain Greig Laidlaw demonstrated his frustration on numerous occasions. So tense was the test match that even the cool head of Laidlaw was pushed over the edge.

Scotland’s last-gasp victory came in extra time. Laidlaw landed a penalty to win the match. Minutes before Sánchez had defended on his line. He and others took offense to Scottish players holding them at a ruck just a meter from their try line. The cited incident took place at this place and time.

Sánchez is now to appear at a disciplinary hearing. It will take place over the coming two days. This will prevent him from training with Los Pumas in London.
