Pumas Score Worthy Try of the Year Nominee

Against Japan Nicolás Sánchez crossed for a try worthy of being a nominee for best of the year. The fly half finished off what was very much a team effort by latching on to a basketball pass.

Attacking from deep in their own half, Argentina scored from on the fourth phase. It began from a scrum on their own 22. A set-piece move found Matías Orlando who broke clear, passing to Leonardo Senatore on the Japanese 22. Quick ball saw Javier Ortega Desio and Tomás Lezana gaining ground. Quick recycling and enterprise enabled Sánchez to score the five-pointer.

Regardless of whether the try is the best of the year or not it will not be up for the award. World Rugby announced three finalists last week. In doing so rugby’s governing body will have the 2016 winner determined without any try in November or December being considered.
