Rugby Canada has announced that CBC Sports will air a live broadcast of Canada’s match against Ireland on Saturday, November 12. Dublin’s Aviva Stadium will host the match with kickoff set for 7:15pm local time, 2:15pm Eastern. CBC coverage will begin at 2:00pm Eastern. The rugby coverage follows on the overwhelmingly positive response to the bronze-medal winning performance by Canada’s Women’s Sevens side at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Presented as part of CBC’s Road To The Olympic Games series, studio coverage will be hosted by Scott Russell and Andi Petrillo, with play-by-play and color commentary from familiar pairing Nigel Reed and Brian Spanton. The match will also be streamed live at CBCSports.ca and on the network’s mobile app.
Greg Stremlaw, Executive Director of CBC Sports, says that it is an exciting opportunity for Canadian rugby fans to watch the game on the nation’s most prominent television broadcaster.
“This match represents a great opportunity to showcase some of Canada’s top athletes taking on one of the world’s best teams on the international stage. We’re happy to once again be working with Rugby Canada to bring the action and excitement of this great sport to our audiences across Canada, including the ever-passionate rugby community.”
Canada’s matches against Romania on November 19 and Tonga on November 25 are tentatively scheduled to be broadcast by regular partner TSN.
