Americas Players in Top 14 – Week 10

International rugby may be upon us but the Top 14 keeps right on truckin’. Of course therein lies the rub when it comes to player release, and perhaps some tweaks might one day be made to better accommodate the needs of all involved, but that’s a story for another day! A dozen Americas players will be spread over the weekend’s matches with players coming from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and the USA.

Italy captain Sergio Parisse will lead out Stade Français at Bordeaux in his usual no8 jersey, while Pato Fernández is only a reserve for Clermont against Grenoble despite scoring 30 points at Brive last weekend. Uruguayan lock Rodrigo Capó Ortega captains Castres at Toulouse with Benjamín Urdapilleta also just a sub after his fine performance last outing.

Others who must be content with replacement roles are Taku Ngwenya for Brive and Pablo Huete for visiting Bayonne. Racing 92 will have two Argentines in their starting lineup with Manuel Carizza wearing no4 and Juan Imhoff on the left wing.

Sunday’s final rosters have yet to be confirmed but four players have been named in match day squads. Joël Sclavi is one of five props listed for Pau’s trip to La Rochelle, with Leandro Cedaro in the group named by the home side. Toulon will head north to Lyon with Samu Manoa and Axel Müller both set to take part.
