Quesada Set to Resign from Stade Français Amid Turmoil

Gonzalo Quesada is set to resign from Stade Français amid turmoil according to the French press. The former Pumas fly half has until December 31 to activate the clause in his contract that would allow him to leave in June. Reports now suggest he is set to announce his departure shortly.

Having coached Stade Français to the Top 14 title in 2015 the Argentine has been unable to repeat the success. The club has not been able to put together a competitive roster. Instead rival clubs are proving to be more competitive which has led some to suggest that winning the title was like finding gold.

Quesada took on the job in 2013, transfering from Racing 92. His contribution saw him honored at the Nuit du Rugby following the club’s title in his second year with the club. Having done so makes him hot property with RMC Sport having reported than Aviva Premiership and Top 14 clubs are interested in his services.

Of the starting XV that won the Top 14 title under Quesada ten were Frenchmen. Due to unrest at the club three of these players have signed for rivals. Raphael Lakafia has signed for Toulon, Rabah Slimani for Clermont and Geoffrey Doumayrou for La Rochelle. Hugo Bonneval and Jeremy Sinzelle are said to also be in advanced talks with Toulon and La Rochelle respectively.
