Canada to Face Romania in June 2017

Canada is to face Romania in June 2017, Romanian TV reports have confirmed. Sources have confirmed matches against Japan and Canada though, for the time being no match is in place against the USA.

Romania last played against Japan in the 2014 November Internationals. Taking place in Bucharest the Japanese won 18-13. Fullback Ayumu Goromaru scored all of Japan’s points.

Japan are expected to host one match against Romania. It is to be followed by a two-test incoming tour from Ireland. The Irish will be playing without their British and Irish Lions players who will be playing in New Zealand.

For their part Canada’s most recent match against Romania was at last year’s Rugby World Cup. Having been in firm control, Canada blew a 15-0 lead to lose 17-15 at Leicester.

Not since 2005 has Romania played in Japan. That was also the most recent occasion in which Romania played outside of Europe. Prior to that Romania played in Morocco in 2000. Romania has never played a test match in Canada nor have the Oaks played in the USA.
