Pools Confirmed for Nacional de Clubes

The pools have been confirmed for the Nacional de Clubes. The competition brings together Argentina’s top performing clubs to compete for the right to be crowned national club champion.

The 2017 competition will have two divisions – A and B. Each will contain four teams, thereby having a total of 32 participants. 30 of these clubs are from Argentina with the remaining two bering Uruguayan.

The current two-time running national champion, Hindú will compete in Zone B. The 2017 URBA Top 14 runners-up will compete in Pool B. They will be joined by teams from Rosario, Tucumán and Buenos Aires – Duentes, Tucumán RC and SIC respectively.

In the first division Buenos Aires is to have a total representation of seven teams. This is far-and-away more than the remainder of the country. The remaining places go to Rosario (2), Santa Fé (1), Tucumán (4) and Córdoba (2).

The first division of the Nacional de Clubes will get underway on March 11. As such it has been strategically positioned to begin exactly one week after the final round of the Americas Rugby Championship.

The competition will have six rounds of regular pool matches. Thereafter there will be Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and the Final. The Nacional de Clubes Final will take place on May 06.

The second division will involve five Buenos Aires teams (Atlético del Rosario, Atlético de San Isidro, Pucará, Alumni and La Plata). The two Uruguayan teams will also play in this division.
