Americas Players in Challenge Cup – Round 2

Pablo Huete will start for Bayonne as they travel to La Rochelle on Thursday evening to start off Round 2 of the European Challenge Cup. The Chilean lock could find himself opposite Italy-Argentine Leandro Cedaro, who will be a reserve for Stade Rochelais. Bristol has left out Thretton Palamo and Gastón Cortes while Sergio Parisse is also absentee from the Stade Français lineup.

Two Argentines are named in Pau’s match day squad to travel to Cardiff. Santiago Fernández continues in the midfield with young prop Joël Sclavi replacing Matt Tierney in the group and named among the reserves. Blaine Scully will start for the Blues on the left wing.

Saturday and Sunday’s rosters are still to be confirmed but there could be a half-dozen Americas players involved for their clubs, though some are also in line to be rested. Mariano Galarza is one who could get the weekend off with Gloucester welcoming Kieran Crowley’s Benetton Treviso to Kingsholm. Taku Ngwenya is a better bet to get a run for Brive as they travel to Worcester.

St. Lucia’s Marland Yarde should play for Harlequins against Edinburgh with an eye towards earning selection to England’s test side in November. Lyon will play at home this weekend against Ospreys, with Agustín Figuerola a possibility at scrumhalf.

Kingston Park will be the venue for Newcastle’s match against Grenoble on Sunday. While Evan Olmstead and Paddy Ryan will have to wait until the Premiership returns next weekends to see action, any of Nick Civetta, Juan Pablo Socino, and Belisario Agulla could dress having all taken park last weekend.
