Estellés seeing action in Aviva ‘A’ league

Los Pumas Olympic 7s representative Juan Pablo Estellés has yet to be named to an Aviva Premiership match day squad with Northampton Saints but is currently a regular with their Wanderers development side in the Aviva ‘A’ League. Monday evening saw the team defeating Oxford University 50-0 at Iffley Road with the Argentine starting in the no12 shirt alongside Tongan international Nafi Tuitavake, another newcomer to Saints who was signed up a month ago from French club Narbonne. In previous ‘A’ league matches against Newcastle and Worcester he started at outside centre, and showing his versatility he was on the wing against Rotherham Titans in a pre-season fixture.

Estellés joined the club following the conclusion of the Olympics in Rio, agreeing to the move from Atlético del Rosario just one day before departing for the Games. The three-month trial contract expires in mid-November, though the 28-year-old is hopeful of securing a longer stay at his first overseas club. His exceptional form for the Argentina XV in the Americas Rugby Championship caught the eye of Saints scouts keen to bolster their midfield options with George Pisi set to join Manu Samoa during the November test series.
