Mackenzie Sidelined with Concussion

Canadian three-quarter Phil Mackenzie has been sidelined indefinitely with a concussion suffered during training in Montevideo. As a result he will play no part in the Americas Pacific Challenge and will almost certainly miss out on the November test series as well. Mackenzie confirmed the news via social media.

It’s another blow not just to the fan-favorite but also to a Canadian side that is starting to look very patchy heading towards a very difficult European tour with matches against Ireland, Romania, and Samoa. Mackenzie was in the frame to replace recently injured Jeff Hassler but will now join a growing disabled list that also includes Hubert Buydens and Tyler Ardron, while Nanyak Dala and Dan Moor have also suffered injuries that threaten their participation on the trip.
