Americas Players in Pro D2 – Week 6

With there having no Pro D2 rugby played last weekend the players will be keen to get back onto the field in week 6. Kicking-off today will be the sixth round of France’s second division. Involved are to be a host of players from the Americas, including names to have played in Rugby World Cups.

Week 6’s opening match is a Thursday fixture. Coming up this afternoon will be Perpignan vs Oyonnax. Both clubs are dying to get back to the Top 14. The both also have players from the Americas though they will not be involved today.

Friday’s opening fixture will see Montauban at home to Bourgoin. In another battle between two former Top 14 clubs. There are to be two former Argentina XV props involved. Damián Arias will provide cover for Montauban while Nicolás Mirande will start for the visitors.

Carcassonne’s home match against Charente is next up. Involved for the home side will be Uruguay’s Felipe Berchesi. The Teros goal-kicker is going to be central to his country’s ambitions next month against Germany, Romania and Spain.

Albi’s new arrival from Buenos Aires is going to immediately thirst into the Pro D2. Lucas Martinez has only just signed for the club yet will feature from the bench against Biarritz on Friday. Another Argentine prop will be involved in the game with Leandro Mario Assi starting at tight-head for Biarritz.

Dax’s home fixture against Vannes will also be a Friday fixture. Starting for Dax will be Martín Chiappesoni. Running out as a starting center for Vannes will be Canadian Conor Trainor. Match time is also expected of Bautista Guemes. He has been named as a Vannes replacement back.

Colomiers’ home fixture against Mont de Marsan will see more multi-national involvement from the Americas. Two former 3-time capped Pumas will feature for the home side. Agustín Costa Repetto will start at hooker while Ariel Castellina will cover prop from the replacements. Former Argentina XV prop, Carlos Muzzio will start for Mont de Marsan as will Uruguay scrum-half Agustín Ormaechea. Jeronimo Negrotto will be a replacement.

Week 6 will close on Sunday. The final match will be between Agen and Aurillac. Lineups will be confirmed for the match on Saturday.
