Old Christians Win Campeonato Uruguayo

Old Christians are the champions of Uruguay. The Montevideo club defeated rivals Old Boys 14-11 in the national club final on Saturday.

For Old Christians it was a day for the history books. The Blues won the three titles: first division, intermediate and pre-intermediate.

In the first division final Old Christians overcame Old Boys in a low-scoring thriller. Played at the national stadium, the Estadio Charrúa Old Christians successfully defended their title. Victory came through one try and three penalties from fullback Andrés de León.

In the intermediate final Old Christians took on Carrasco Polo. Played at San Patricio, Old Christians won another close game, thins time by 18-15.

It was not so close in the pre-intermediate final. Old Christians took on Los Cuervos, also doing so at San Patricio. The Blues ran out 47-24 winners.
