The 2016 South American B Championship will get underway this weekend. On Sunday afternoon in Lima, Peru two matches are to take place.
First up will be Colombia vs Ecuador. The match will see the 2015 champions facing the team that finished bottom. Having been winless Ecuador entered repechage, facing South American C Champions Guatemala.
Ecuador narrowly won their match against the Central Americans to seal the fourth spot in this year’s South American B Championship. They will now face the tournament favorites and their northern neighbors in a Rugby World Cup qualifier.
Also playing on Sunday will be Peru vs Venezuela. The teams are seeded second and third in the tournament. A win is thereby absolutely vital for both. The winner will face the loser of Colombia vs Ecuador in round two.
Round two will be played on Wednesday October 05. It will be followed by the third and final round on Saturday October 08. The tournament will will advance in Rugby World Cup Qualification. Their opponent will be Guyana or Mexico. They meet today in Mexico City.
