Mexico Head Coach Ruben Duque has named his 23 players for Saturday’s Rugby World Cup qualifier. Mexico will play at home to Guyana in what is also to be the Rugby Americas North Final.
On the line is a chance at keeping the dream alive. Either Mexico or Guyana will advance to face the winner of the South American ‘B’ Championship in repechage. From there the winner will face Paraguay with a further opportunity of progression.
The 2017 South American ‘A’ Championship will feature Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and the overall winner of the upcoming Americas repechage series.
Having impressed in the Caribbean regional series Mexico and Guyana are the finalists. Las Serpientes enter as favorites due to having been undefeated and because of home advantage.
Duque’s roster contains players from ten clubs. They are Black Thunder, Borregos Puebla, Cumiyais Monterrey, Hammerheads Cancún, Jaguares, Lobos, Queretaro, Tazmania, Tec de Monterrey and Wallabies Mexico.
