Colombia Roster Named for South American B Championship

Colombia have named 25 players for the upcoming South American B Championship. To be played in Lima, Peru Colombia will play test matches on October 02, 05 and 08.

The 2016 South American Competition will feature the same four competitors from 2015. Colombia won the tournament with an undefeated run against Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. The same is true of the 2014 edition.

In contrast to the past two competitions this year’s event will double as Rugby World Cup qualification. The winner of the tournament will advance to face the Rugby Americas North winner. That opponent will be either Guyana or Mexico. The teams are to meet on October 01 in Mexico City.

Colombia’s quest will begin this coming Sunday against southern neighbors Ecuador. On Wednesday Colombia will then face either Peru or Venezuela, depending on Sunday’s results. While the third and final round will be on Saturday October 08.

Colombia enter the tournament as favorites and Ecuador as bottom seeds. Ecuador recently fought off a strong challenge from Guatemala to retain their place in the South American B Championship.
