Americas Players in Mitre 10 Cup / NRC

It’s a slow Week 6 of the Mitre 10 Cup as far as Americas fans are concerned. A pair of US Eagles will be the only Americas-eligible players suiting up for their teams. Chris Baumann held up the Wellington scrum as they defeated Northland on Thursday. Flanker Tony Lamborn looks to continue his fine form for Hawke’s Bay against Tasman on Saturday.

Canadian lock Josh Larsen started for the Northland reserve side against North Harbour reserves in a curtain-raiser for the senior Wellington fixture. There is no sign of Spike Davis in the Tasman reserve side. PRO Rugby does get a representative in the form of San Francisco Rush loose forward Bill Fukofuka, who gets two games in the space of five days as he started on the blindside in Southland’s 20-16 win over Bay of Plenty on Wednesday, and reprises the role on Sunday against North Harbour.

Across the Tasman Sea the National Rugby Championship is heading into Round 5. Marcel Brache wings in for the Perth Spirit against the NSW Country Eagles on Saturday. Sunday’s matches see Les Leulua’iali’i-Makin at tighthead for UC Vikings to face Melbourne Rising, and hooker James Hilterbrand backing up Damien Fitzpatrick for the Sydney Rays against Brisbane City.
