French Club Sign Argentine Winger

The departure of Argentine players to Europe continues. The latest to leave is 25-year-old Facundo Panceyra Garrido who will play for Charente in the Pro D2.

Charente are sitting pretty in fourth spot of the Pro D2 after four rounds. The club is playing in France’s second division for the first time after having promotion from the Fédérale 1 last season.

As part of an effort to avoid relegation and compete as strongly as possible Charente has been recruiting notably. At the club are Argentine players and Sebastián Poet. Both, like Panceyra Garrido were unable to make it to Los Pumas.

With two tests to his name Poet is the only capped player of the three. The 23-year-old played against Brazil, Chile and Uruguay in the 2013 South American Championship.

Heavy investment in Panceyra Garrido nonetheless saw him playing representative rugby for Argentina in other formats. From 2012-2014 he played in twenty-two tournaments for Los Pumas 7’s. In earlier years he played for the Argentina u19’s and u20’s doing so from 2008-2010.

Standing 1,92m in height and weighing 99kg Panceyra Garrido is a big winger. He has played at both wing and center for his club Tala in Córdoba.
