Cordero Joins Elite Try-Scorers Club

Despite Argentina not enjoying their finest performance in Perth for Santiago Cordero history was made. The Buenos Aires winger became the 24th player in rugby history to score a try against all three of the SANZAAR opposition countries – Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The three tries have come in four test matches. Having started for Argentina in all four Rugby Championship matches this year he has established an impressive conversion rate. His three tries have come against each of the three countries, a record only Juan Manuel Leguizamón has previously achieved for Los Pumas in the competition.

Before Cordero only three other Pumas have scored against the same three countries. Leguizamón did so in the 2013 Rugby Championship while centers Diego Cuesta Silva and Lisandro Arbizu are the other two. Cuesta Silva scored against Australia in 1986 and 1987, against New Zealand in 1985 and against South Africa in 1993. Arbizu scored against the same opponents in 1995, 2001 and 2000.
