Fry joins Bado at St. Nazaire

Eric Fry has making an immediate return to European club rugby. The US Eagles prop has signed for French club St. Nazaire and will arrive in camp this weekend. Located on the Atlantic coast, west of Nantes, the club plays in the elite pool of Fédérale 1, the third professional division in France. They will compete against relegated Pro D2 clubs Tarbes and Provence, and last year’s Fédérale champions Chambéry among others.

A winner of 40 caps and participant in two World Cups, Fry joined the Sacramento Express midway through the inaugural PRO Rugby season after ending a two-year contract with Aviva Premiership club Newcastle Falcons. Previously he spent time with London Scottish and Manawatu Turbos. Still shy of his 29th birthday, Fry will look to tighten up his set piece game in the notoriously scrum-heavy division. He will find no shortage of Georgian props to work with, finding two at his club alone.

Fry will not be the only Americas representative at the club. Former Uruguay great Juan Carlos Bado is the forwards coach. After a long professional career as a second row in France, the 42-year-old is now looking to move up the ladder as a coach, having also worked with Los Teros during the 2015 World Cup run.
