Pumas 7s Star Joins Northampton Saints

Los Pumas 7’s star Juan Pablo Estellés is to play for the Northampton Saints. The center from Atlético del Rosario has joined the Aviva Premiership club on a deal which will see him at the club for the duration of the 2016-2017 season.

In moving to England the 28 year old will have his first experience as a professional in Europe. He is joining directly from Rio de Janeiro, before he has had an opportunity to wear Atlético del Rosario colors after the Olympics.

Despite having been involved in representative teams for a number of years Estellés has been unable to make the jump to test level. His one and only cap came against Chile in 2008. The same match featured the debut of Martín Landajo.

Heavy investment in the domestic program has seen Estellés busy representing Argentina in non-capped rugby. In 2007 and 2008 he played for Argentina u19’s and u20’s. From there he played for both the Pampas XV and Argentina XV from 2009-2016 in addition to Los Pumas 7’s.
