Bongi Mbonambi Added to Springbok Roster

Bongi Mbonambi has been added to the Springboks roster for the Rugby Championship. As such he joins captain Adriaan Strauss to become the second hooker in camp. A third is to be added after the Super Rugby final with Malcolm Max of the Lions the likely player.

Mbonambi has one test cap to his name. He earned it in the recent June Internationals against Ireland. The Stormers hooker is expected to add to this in the Rugby Championship by playing back-up to Strauss.

Set to miss out is Montpellier hooker Bismarck du Plessis. Notwithstanding other players based abroad are rumored to be included.

The Springboks began their training in camp yesterday. It will continue on until Thursday while their Rugby Championship campaign will start against Argentina on August 20.
