Alcatraz are Venezuela Champions

Venezuela’s national club championship, the Campeonato Nacional de Clubes de Rugby XV has reached its conclusion. Competing in the decisive final were Mérida RC and Alcatraz RC with the latter securing the title.

Despite playing away to Mérida RC it was very much Alcatraz RC’s day. The visitors completed a 40-20 victory which expanded on a 17-13 half time lead. Francisco Gallardo and José A. Arrieta both crossed for doubles in the second half.

With the result sealed Alcatraz RC suffered from lapses in discipline which saw replacements Francisco Gallardo yellow carded and José G. Arrieta red carded in the final minutes.
