Pumas Begin Rugby Championship Training

Earlier today in Buenos Aires Los Pumas began their preparation for the Rugby Championship. Kicking-off in three weeks time the Four Nations competition will see the four Semi Finalists from Rugby World Cup 2015 facing-off home and away over six rounds.

The Argentine roster contains 33 players, with scrum half Tomás Cubelli now being the only player based outside of the country. The remaining 32 featured for Los Jaguares in Super Rugby earlier this year.

Not involved in training today was prop Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro and center Matías Moroni. The former missed for personal reasons while the latter will play for Los Pumas 7’s at the Olympic Games this coming weekend.

Not included in the 33 but present in training today were Gonzalo Bertranou, Felipe Arregui, Facundo Gigena, Cristian Bartoloni and Ignacio Larrague. The five players have been used for representative teams for non-capped matches this year. They remain wider squad options.

Training will resume on Tuesday and continue through until next Thursday, August 11. Los Pumas will open their Rugby Championship campaign away to South Africa on August 20.
