Ecuador has begun preparation for the all-important Americas repechage fixture. A roster of 40 players trained from Friday to Sunday at Fedeguayas field in Pascuales, Guayaquil.
Los Piqueros will play host to Guatemala in a one-off match in Guayaquil on August 27. The winner will join Colombia, Peru and Venezuela in the 2016 South American B Championship.
Ecuador is thereby preparing to avoid relegation from to the South American C Championship. Their opponents won the 2015 South American Championship late last year.
With the 2016 South American B Championship counting towards Rugby World Cup 2019 qualification it is a must win match for both sides.
