The Chilean Minister of Education (Ministerio de Educación de Chile – MINEDUC) is to incorporate rugby balls in the sporting implementation that is distributed to educational establishments as part of the #ovaladasparatodos campaign.
This accomplishment has made possible thanks to the efforts of Rugby Para Todos Chile (Rugby for All Chile). The effort has been composed of more than sixty professionals from education and sports coaching. Its leader Pedro Hernandez de Rosas is the General Coordinator of the cause of social development for Rugby para todos Chile.
The unit of physical education in Chilean schools under the Division of General Education of the Ministry of Education, has reported that this consideration will be formally included by 2017.
Due to the importance and impact that this social initiative is to have it is estimated that no fewer than one million Chilean children, nationwide, will have rugby balls in their schools by 2020.
As a result it will be possible for rugby’s social-educational values (including teamwork, respect, confidence, discipline, collective responsibility, and tolerance) will communicate rugby’s delivery.
In addition it is going to be a great opportunity to develop a physical and sporting activity that has previously been limited to Private High Schools or paid for by parents.
For next year 2,331 public establishments (343,000 children and teens) in all of Chile will be able to apply for the the set of sporting equipment which includes rugby balls.
This number will only increase in the following years, reaching an additional 5,000 public establishments. These additional benefactors have already had access in 2015 and 2016 and are certain to be renewed.
