USA South Panthers Crowned Rugby Americas North u19 Champions

Just like the women in the rugby 10’s tournament, it was the men’s USA South Panthers who came out winners in Miami.

This afternoon in southern Florida the USA South Panthers U19’s side defeated last year’s champions, Mexico. The 25-10 victory sees the side ending a six year drought.

The USA South Panthers were made to work hard for the result. At the half way stage they held an 11-10 lead. The second half proved the difference. The home side scored fourteen points, doing so while keeping Mexico scoreless.

Earlier in the day Jamaica powered past the Bahamas, winning 50-0. The result gave Jamaica first place in the Trophy final, and 7th position overall. Coming in at 5th was Bermuda who won 20-7 against Turks & Caicos. The Cayman Islands fell short against Trinidad & Tobago, losing 60-6. With it Trinidad & Tobago claimed third spot.

Today’s matches brought an end to the Rugby Americas North Super Week. Played from July 9-16, the Super Week featured a total of 23 matches involving 14 teams in additional to administrative and educational events to develop rugby in the region.
