Rugby Cannibalism in Tucumán

On Sunday in Tucumán a player fell victim to rugby cannibalism. It took place in a regional developmental league.

In competing for the ball at a breakdown a player had the end of his finger bitten off. The Corsarios player, Daniel Contreras told La Nacion that ”in the 29 years that I have been playing rugby I have never seen anything like this.” The name of the offender was suppressed.

Upon showing the referee what had happened to his finger Contreras remained calm. “I couldn’t believe it. The referee asked me to leave the field to receive medical treatment. I did not react because my wife and daughters were at the park“.

As shown below the player took a selfie of his finger from the locker room. The Unión de Rugby de Tucumán is to take action against the offender.
