Pumitas Called up as Petti and Moyano are in Doubt for Highlanders

Argentina under 20 players have been called up to Los Jaguares ahead of Saturday’s home match against the Highlanders. Following the win over the Bulls this past Saturday Head Coach Raúl Pérez has added Bautista Delguy, Marcos Kremer (pictured) and Juan Cruz Mallía to the training squad.

Bautista Delguy is a fullback / wing and his call-up is to cover for Ramiro Moyano. The Tucumán fullback was unable to complete practice this morning to to pain in his calf. At the World Rugby Junior World Championship Delguy was a dangerous counter-attacker.

Specialist second-rower, Marcos Kremer was used as both a second-rower and blindside flanker by Los Pumitas. His call-up comes as no surprise given the non-availability of Matías Alemanno and Juan Cruz Guillemaín. The 18 year old joins Ignacio Larrague as uncapped second-rowers in training.

The pair of Kremer and Larrague are both highly likely to get game time with Los Jaguares. The 20 year old Larrague made his Super Rugby debut from the bench against the Bulls on Saturday. He replaced Guido Petti who twisted his ankle in the second half and remains in doubt to face the Highlanders.

The Pumitas captain in Manchester was Juan Cruz Mallía. The outside center has been selected by Pérez due to the upcoming call-up for Matías Moroni for Los Pumas 7’s. Moroni is a certainty for Rio 2016.

The departure of Moroni coincides with the return of Juan Martín Hernández. El Mago is back to fitness and ready to play for Los Jaguares on Saturday. He is set to play at inside center.
