Former USA Coach Assists Las Tucanes in Colombia

The Federación Colombiana de Rugby (Feco) has confirmed that from July 06-10 the Colombian Women’s Rugby Sevens team will prepare for the Olympic Games in Guarne, Antioquia.

The national women’s team are stepping up their preparation with Al Caravelli arriving to assist Las Tucanes. Caravelli coached the USA from 2006-2012 and now coaches the Philippines. His expertise will aid the South Americans as they get ready for Rio de Janeiro.

Caravelli’s involvement is to be the last week of specific work to determine who are the 12 women that will represent Colombia at the Olympic Games. An official announcement is to be made on July 13.

Las Tucanes are to compete in Group A of the women’s division at the Olympic Games. They will face the world’s number one Australia in addition to the 6th and 7th ranked USA and Fiji.
