Pérez Galeone leaves Chambéry for Bourgoin

Former Argentina u19 captain Leandro Pérez Galeone has signed for Bourgoin. The 29-year-old leaves Chambéry, where he was vice-captain and one of the best loose forwards in the French Federale 1 for the last three seasons. Chambéry lifted the Jean Prat Trophy as league champions this season but will not move to the Pro D2 next year as they do not have the finances to qualify.

Bourgoin, meanwhile, finished 9th in the Pro D2 but were one of four clubs – along with Tarbes, Biarritz, and Narbonne – relegated to the Fédérale divisions by the FFR for poor financial situations. Tarbes is certain to face the drop, but the fate of the other three will not be finalised until Saturday, June 25.

Pérez therefore could yet remain in Fédérale 1 next season, albeit in a different jersey. He joined Chambéry as a professional from Banco Nación in 2013. Since then he has played 59 league matches, scoring 16 tries.
