Americas Rankings – June 19 2016

There have been changes to the Americas Rankings following international competition this weekend. The updated Americas Rankings – June 19 2016 see rises and falls for a number of countries.

Argentina’s 30-19 win over France sees Argentina obtaining a slight gain to rise from 82.59 to a new ranking of 82.87 points. It is a similar gain to that of Canada whose big win over Russia has given Canada a significant lift to rise from 64.24 to 65.19 points.

Canada’s rise comes at the expense of Russia who have dropped in the world rankings to now have 62.61 points. With it Russia have fallen behind Uruguay.

Uruguay’s loss against Romania saw Los Teros’ ranking take a hit to fall from 63.26 to 62.89 points. Uruguay, nonetheless is improved this week. Saturday’s 16-0 win over Spain gives Uruguay a new ranking of 64.09 points.

Falling this week is the USA. The Eagles’ narrow home defeat against Italy means Canada rise and the USA fall in the Americas Rankings. The USA have dropped from 65.68 points to now sit in third place in the Americas with 64.89 points. A win next weekend over Russia combined with Canada falling to Italy in Toronto would see the USA back in second spot.

Brazil’s narrow and late home loss on Friday evening against Kenya has had an impact on Brazil’s ranking. Having entered the fixture with 51.91 points the loss has given Brazil an updated ranking of 50.75 points.

Losing at home in the Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago have dropped in the Americas Rankings. Guyana’s 23-18 victory has handed the continental South American country a new ranking of 46.61 points while Trinidad & Tobago have dropped to 46.25, thereby falling below Colombia. Guyana, though, rise to 8th in the Americas.

By virtue of losing heavily away to the Cayman Islands Bermuda have also suffered. Bermuda’s updated ranking sees a fall from 39.82 points to 39.22 and sees them swapping places with Peru. The Cayman Islands, in contrast, have risen from 42.87 to 43.46 points.

Barbados’ Walk-Over (WO) win over Jamaica on Saturday sees no change to either side. While Barbados win an automatic bonus point win of 28-0 the fixture itself never in fact took place thereby seeing existing rankings points retained by both countries.
